The Reviews are In...Come see this "engaging, polished production" with "a startlingly fine cast"

The Reviews are In!

The reviews are in and we're proud to say that the critics love our production of Much Ado About Nothing! We're sure you will too.

From Creative Loafing:

"Co-founders Elise Wilkinson and Joe Copley have assembled a startlingly fine cast to joust with the Bard's pentameters [and] to execute the comedic bravura."

"A fine production whose balance is gleefully tilted toward the funnybone without shortchanging the serious moments of treachery and rebirth. Most joyous of all, tickets at McGlohon Theatre are free through Sunday, and suggested donations are richly deserved."

From Arts a la Mode:

"Engaging, polished production...Although Shakespeare’s language may intimidate some...this play [is] understandable to the regular theatre-goer...an immensely enjoyable experience [with] excellent casting...bringing a high quality Shakespearean experience to the Charlotte stage."

About the Show:

The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival is pleased to present the 2nd production in our 2008 festival - the romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

Much Ado About Nothing is a “merry war of wits” between Beatrice and Benedick who vow to remain single while their friends and family conspire to trick them into falling in love. Wordplay and deception combined with humor and romance make this one of Shakespeare’s most loved romantic comedies.

Performances take place in the McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square located uptown at 345 N. College Street (near 7th Street). Admission is free and no reservations are necessary.

Remaining Performances:

Thursday, August 7 @ 8:00 pm
Friday, August 8 @ 8:00 pm
Saturday, August 9 @ 2:30 pm
Saturday, August 9 @ 8:00 pm
Sunday, August 10 @ 2:30 pm

VIP Reserved Seating Still Available

For Much Ado About Nothing, the McGlohon Theatre has been set up with cabaret-style seating (small tables located next to the chairs) as well as traditional-style theatre seats. Seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for audience members who are donors, we are pleased to offer reserved seating in the front center of the orchestra (cabaret-style seating).

Help support future productions of The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival by making a tax-deductable donation. For every $50 you donate, we'll reserve two of the best seats in the house for you and a friend.

Here's how it works... send us an email at least 24 hours before your selected performance to let us know you are coming and that you would like VIP seating. Please be sure to tell us how many are in your party. We'll reserve seats for you in the front center orchestra section. When you arrive, please check in with our house manager. He or she will collect your donation (check or cash only, please, we are not able to take credit cards at this time) and escort you to your reserved seats.

You will be able to arrive when you wish, avoid the crowds, have prime seating near the stage, and have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to bring back our festival in 2009!

Don't Forget... Specially-themed Food and Drinks

While you can't bring your own food and beverage to this indoor production, the McGlohon Theatre will be offering specially-themed snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to patrons of Much Ado and you are welcome to bring those libations into the theatre to enjoy during the show!
