This year our Shakespeare Festival will benefit from training and instruction from two of the country's outstanding Shakespeare professionals. We want to share the wealth with our supporters, so we invite you to a free seminar moderated by Daniela Varon, an accomplished Shakespeare director and instructor. (More about Daniela below.) Daniela will talk about our upcoming shows, Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing. She will also discuss how directors approach Shakespeare in the modern age, and how actors can unlock the text to bring it fully alive for today's audience. The seminar will include scenes with actors from both shows. These scenes will be 'workshopped' by Daniela to demonstrate various ways to approach the text. There will also be interactive exercises with volunteers from the audience. This is a great opportunity to meet an outstanding Shakespeare practitioner and get a behind-the-scenes look at how and why we do what we do. And did we mention it's free? Friday, April 25th 7:30 - 9:00 pm Duke Power Theatre at Spirit Square 345 N. College St., Charlotte, NC
No reservations are required. Seating is limited, and the seminar is first-come, first-served, so come early to make sure you get a seat! About The Moderator Daniela Varon is a New York-based theater director and acting teacher, and a longtime member of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
